Meet Jess.

Owner of Metta+Moxie, LMSW, RYT-200

Jess Jarrard is a licensed social worker and trauma informed yoga teacher residing in the Metro Detroit area. She bases her clinical work off of a combination of Cognitive Behavior, Dialectical Behavior, Attachment, and Interpersonal Therapy techniques. She holds certificates in EMDR and Perinatal Mood Disorders through Postpartum Support International. As a seasoned yoga teacher Jess was trained at the Center for Yoga and certified through LifePower Yoga. She is instructed in the principles and practices of ashtanga/vinyasa and has training in pre/postnatal yoga, somatic movement, and trauma informed techniques.

Jess’ therapeutic approach often involves a combination of clinical and yoga techniques. She believes at times, talk therapy can only bring clients so far. As the body opens through movement it often provides more access to what’s happening internally allowing emotional and cognitive processing and integration.

It is Jess’ passion to aid women who struggle with loss of identity, feelings of loneliness and alienation, and a general lack of self worth. Her mantra for counseling and yoga sessions is simply, ‘come as you are’ and she strives to help women feel truly seen, heard, and abundantly cared for.  Jess believes that each woman has a unique light inside and as we let our lights shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.
